Being new to Lawrence, I was unsure on who to go to for auto places. After calling everyone about quotes for a strut replacement & alignment, Dale & Ron's price was $200 lower than all 5 places that I called. They were able to finish the job no problem.
I have been a customer of Dale & Ron's for over a decade and have had work done on numerous cars. They have done everything from changing spark plugs to replacing an engine/transmission for me. I have always been pleased with the results and they have always advised me of the options to fix, giving me a price before the work is done and explaining what they would do. If you ask, they'll show you exactly what they did after the work is done as well. There have been a few times over the years where they have not charged me for diagnositc work (depends on how involved it is) and they have also looked at cars that I was looking to buy to see if they were mechanically sound or not and did not charge me for that either. (One car I ended up not buying based on their recommendation - they found a couple of leaks that I didn't know about). All in all, I trust my vehicles with Dale and Ron's auto repair shop in Lawrence, KS above all other mechanics. These guys are awesome, there's a reason they're so busy. My 96 infiniti finally gave out on me so I took it in for them to inspect--all I had to do was drop my keys off in the nightbox and they called me in the morning. They kept it for two days, inspected it, drove it around, and we came to the mutual agreement that it was time to scrap it. I went in to go pick it up and THEY WOULDN'T ACCEPT MY MONEY. They had done me a solid and I felt they deserved payment but they wouldn't take my cash. You ever hear of any mechanics doing that? We've been taking our vehicles (sedan and truck) to Dale & Ron's for 5 years now and the service has always been excellent. The quotes are always spot on, the final price always matches the quote or is even lower than the quoted cost. Rick (manager, owner?) who mans the office as well as (quite literally) getting his hands dirty, is incredibly helpful and polite. He saves the parts that are replaced to show you what was done and he'll even pull out a schematic of the vehicle to explain where the work was done, why, and how it affects the performance of the vehicle. The staff has never been anything but helpful.
Our daughter who was traveling through Lawrence had her car die. AAA had Dale and Ron's on their approved list so we agreed to have it towed there. Turned out the nut on the battery cable came loose and all it took was a few turns of the wrench. For their time to diagnose and fix they said no charge. This is a good sign of a honest shop in Lawrence, KS. Being stranded out of town I was so afraid there would have been all kinds of charges added on but not with these guys. -Dave B
I learned about Dale and Ron's from my Grandfather who has been taking his cars to Rick for over 15 years. He has had nothing but good things to say about Rick, and the business that he runs over at Dale and Ron's. So, when I needed work done on my car, my Granddad gratefully headed over to Dale and Ron's to talk with Rick about what we could do. This was about 4 years ago. Since that time, I have been to see Rick multiple times, for a variety of reasons. Every time I go in, he greets me with a smile on his face, and a shake of the oil soaked hand.
